Menace

A friend of mine in the color department at work got ahold of the latest Wacom Cintiq tablet about a month back and today I got the chance to give it a go myself during lunch break. I'm really hooked on this thing now. I never felt comfortable with traditional tablets, but drawing on screen with this was very intuitive. It's probably a good thing I don't have one of my own to work on there, otherwise I'd be doodling all day.

Hedonist

Schools out, now in the working world and starting a steady routine, I'm getting back into illustration. Looking forward to building up a sweet portfolio.

Logo Display

With a little bit of trial and error, as well as some good help from the industrial department at my school, my display for portfolio review is near completion. The stand is a 7.5'X2' piece of plywood and the logo is cut from black acrylic. I was concerned about the texture the painted wood would give, but it adds a nice touch.

This is one of my first attempts at "urban" style illustration. More to come.

Atlas Illustration

I'm taking an illustration course where we have someone model a specific pose and use the photo as reference for a digital illustration, then apply it. It was decided that this would make a good comic book cover.

Augmented Reality

This has been a recent little obsession of mine. A friend told me about augmented reality being implemented into the iphone, and after a little research I found that web cams are being used for the same purpose. Through some impressive coding, webcams can now recognize symbols and project images on the video feed of the camera. As of now it doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose other than an emerging trend, but this certainly seems it's on the verge of a new category of media and advertising. If you have a webcam and would like to give it a try, a good example is GE's ecomagination site.
